Fact one; parenting is stressful. Fact two; being a single parent is another level of stress entirely. Fact three; being a parent drives you to drink.
We all know that the time between 5pm and 7pm every day is effectively the witching hour. It’s the two hour window of tea time, bath time, story time and bed. Mother’s everywhere watch the clock like a hawk. Sanity is hanging on by a thread and as soon as lights are out and the toys are tidied away you breathe a long sigh and reach for the fridge for your reward, a long cool drink.
Whether it’s a glass of wine, a G&T or an ice cold cider it has been lovely since moving house to have a patio and a garden to sit out in and enjoy a long drink at the end of a sunny day. It’s a little bit of ‘me time’ and thankfully my fridge has been very well stocked thanks to the delicious H Westons Wyld Wood Cider.
I love cider and particularly in the summer months; it makes me think of lazy days sitting talking with friends, laid back beats on the stereo and the fire pit burning into the early hours. So when several cases of the sparkling and the still cider arrived for me to devour I couldn’t wait to get the packs in the fridge and chilling….fast.
In case you don’t know Wyld Wood, is a traditional premium cider brand aimed at women. Produced from fruit sourced in Herefordshire’s organic orchards the emphasis is very much on its organic and rural origin. It’s lighter than many traditional ciders on the market and not so gassy.
Westons know their stuff when it comes to cider; and has produced organic cider for over 15 years and Wyld Wood is a brand that comes straight from the heart of their values. It illustrates their deep and on-going passion for good quality cider and a respect for nature and wildlife.
So what does it taste like? For those who enjoy cider, a pleasant still brew full of fruit taste, slightly sweet. At 6% it is of medium strength. Very suitable for warm summer evenings served chilled straight from the fridge either as an aperitif or as a good thirst quencher.
What do I love about it?
- + served in the box straight from the fridge (convenience)
- – served in the box straight from the fridge (far too tempting)
- + Opened for one week and still fresh
- + great for drinking with friends as really refreshing and light
If you fancy getting your lips round an ice cool Wyld Wood this year then good news. Wyld Wood are delighted to be the official cider of Jamie Oliver and Alex James’ Big Feastival. This super family-friendly uber foodie inspired musical festival will see 15,000 people descend on the Cotswolds, for the second year running (29th – 31st August). The Wyld Wood Cider Bar is located within a cool tepee which will once again be centrally located so you don’t miss any of the important action.
If you’re feeling really wyld, you can even cook with the cider – it’s a delicious and great addition to any meal! www.westons-cider.co.uk/products/wyld-wood/recipes. I highly recommend a pork tenderloin with a cider, mushroom and mustard sauce over wild rice with a fresh green salad – delicious!
