The versatility of jeans….BonPrix style challenge

I love jeans. I live in my Levi Curve jeans that I bought last year in California – in fact I wish I had bought more of them at the price they were. I love the fact that jeans can be dressed up or can be ultra casual depending on their style and fit and what you team them with.  That and the fact when you’re a parent who spends the time dashing from school to work, to after school activities back to home again you need something that is practical and comfortable.  Jeans tick all those boxes.

In reality though it’s really quite tough finding jeans on the high street that fit well.  Sizes vary considerably and unless you invest in some of the big brand denim that comes with a hefty price tag after time I find you’re left with ‘saggy bottom syndrome’ as your jeans sag.  Well this week I’ve been trying out some of the bums and tums skinny jeans from fashion retailer Bon Prix.  Previously I’d spent two weeks grocery money on a pair of Not Your Daughter’s jeans in John Lewis and after a few months of initial happy wearing, became very dissatisfied at how much they stretched and became unwearable.

Priced at £34.99 these bums and tums skinny jeans come in four colours; a nice deep black and various shades of blue.  With a high waist featuring three buttons this is designed to pull in your abs, when they’re having an off day and give you a derriere Kim Kardashian would envy!  The denim is really heavy, obviously part of the ‘sucking in’ feature, and the black pair I tried out were a really deep midnight black which is a nice change to the faded black jeans I had been wearing and that were showing their age.

The fit is brilliant, consider ordering a size larger because of the close fit of these jeans and the length on the regular jeans was perfect on me at 5ft 5inches; long enough to wear a good heel without looking like the jeans had shrunk in the wash but not so long as to drag on the floor when wearing my school run flats.

Yesterday I wore the jeans for the school run to work and in order to make them ‘office appropriate’ paired them with a chunky sparkly knit from H&M (I am in love with their AW14 collection, so much military style influence it’s just fabulous), my Alexander McQueen skull scarf that was a gift from a very kind blogger and my trusty FitFlop pony skin wedges that are an absolute godsend when I find I am running late for the school run.  No chance of breaking my neck in them unlike the 4 inch boots I wore earlier in the week (all in the name of style remember).

Spending most of my day sitting down at a desk comfort is key and these jeans although very tight and fitted are exceedingly comfortable.  I don’t have much of a muffin top since losing my weight but loved the supportive feeling from the high waist of these jeans and didn’t feel squished or uncomfortable which is how my NYD jeans made me feel.  My outfit was practical and chic enough for the office without looking too casual and my work colleagues loved my shoes!

If you’re on the look out for a good pair of sculpting jeans that won’t break the bank then these bums and tums jeans from BonPrix are a smart buy and will be easy to style for work or play.  You can view the whole range of jeans on the BonPrix website; they’ve got a style and colour to suit every taste and check out their social channels for the latest offers and deals.
