Roo loves memory games, we have several on the iPad and they are some of her favourite plus they teach valuable recognition and memory skills. So we were delighted to be offered the chance to try the new Ravensburger Mini Memory game recently.
Ravensburger Mini Memory is set of 48 high quality memory picture cards that make up 24 pairs for the game. The cards feature different images of the featured characters. We got to take a look at the Hello Kitty design who Roo seems to be developing a bit of a love for.

What I particularly liked was that it was easy to vary the game play to suit different ages and abilities. So for younger children you can simply use fewer cards, which is what I did with Roo a few times to get her used to the game strategy, but after a few goes she wanted to add more cards and beat mummy!
The cards are really nicely put together made from sturdy high quality card and laminated on both sides with a vibrant picture of Hello Kitty. Each card measures approximately 5 x 5cm and because there are a range of designs for each set this is a game that is aimed at boys and girls and is suitable from 3-5 years.
The idea of the game is to lay the cards face down and take it in turns to turn two cards over and the aim is to find the pairs. Roo straight off loved this game and has developed some ninja tendencies of making mummy go and make a drink whilst sneakily looking at other cards. The game is pretty tough when you’ve got all 48 cards, and yes I was beaten several times by someone 30+ years my junior (shame face). We started with a few cards, and gradually as Roo became more confident and adept at remembering where the cards were we built up to using the full 48.
The Mini Memory game is great for building up children’s confidence and flexing that grey matter in the summer holidays in a fun way. I have taken to practicing in secret ready for a rematch with Roo shortly!
The box it comes in is nice and small and so this is a great game for taking on days out and for holidays as it’s nice and compact to pack in suitcases and is also a game that children can play on their own without adult assistance.
So far the designs in the Ravensburger Mini Memory games include some great kids favourites such as :-
- Mike the Knight
- Moshi Monsters
- Thomas & Friends
- Minnie Mouse
- Hello Kitty
- Disney Princess
So there’s a design to pretty much cover whatever your kids are into watching at the moment – definitely a great gift for Christmas stockings as something to keep little ones amused on Christmas mornings.
