Recently Roo and I were sent a lovely selection of Poppy Cat and Friends toys for review. This is a series we enjoy watching on Nick JR as Poppy Cat looks very much like our Bengal cat Miss Chi and Roo often re-enacts Poppy Cat’s adventures with Miss Chi when visiting Nanmar.
For the purpose of this review we were sent a 4 piece figure set, which includes all your favourite Poppy Cat characters –
Poppy Cat, Alma, Zuzu and Owl. Each one is probably just over an inch or so in height and is bright and colourful. The lovely pre-school characters are aimed at both girls and boys ideally between 3 – 5 years, I would say this is about right as younger children may be tempted to put them in their mouth.
Roo has very much enjoyed these toys, they don’t actually ‘do’ anything or come to life in anyway – so no batteries required, but what they do encourage children to do is to enter an imaginary world of adventure on role play. The only limit to the game is their imagination.
So far in our house Poppy Cat has had tea at the Sylvanian Families mansion, ridden in Peppa’s princess carriage and taken an underwater adventure with Rapunzel and Brave in the bath tub!
The Poppy Cat and Friends Character Set retails at £9.99, which is reasonable and not overly expensive for a character toy set, and is available from Golden Bear and all other good Toy Shops.
The other item we got sent was the Poppy Cat talking soft toy. Made from soft and cuddly fabrics the Talking Poppy Cat Soft Toy is a great bedtime companion for all Poppy Cat fans.
She is snuggly soft and very cuddly and if you press Poppy’s tummy you can hear her say one of her 5 phrases from the popular Poppy Cat books and TV show.
This toy is aimed at children from around 10 mths old and to be honest didn’t engage Roo for long but she is nearly 4 years old. It did however, go down a storm with a friend of ours whose little boy is 8 months old and it bought raucous giggles of laughter from him every time he squidged Poppy Cat or accidentally rolled on her in his play pen!
This is a toy that would easily provide a lot of amusement for younger children and could be a great sensory toy as the fabric is lovely and plush to the touch.
The Poppy Cat talking soft toy again retails at £9.99, which again is pretty reasonable for an interactive toy, and is available from Golden Bear and all other good Toy Shops.
