Card games are great fun with the kids they are great for rainy days indoors, don’t take up loads of space, get everyone behaving in a silly way and even better make perfect items for taking on days out and holiday breaks. So when we were asked to review the new Dr Seuss I Can Do That card game I hoped that it would live up to all the other card games we had previously played such as Happy Families.
The Dr Seuss I Can Do That card games is new from Paul Lamond Games. The game invites you to join The Cat in the Hat in an activity filled card game and discover all the new things you can do. The object of the game is to get a complete set (red, yellow and blue cards), read the complete sentence created by all three cards and then try to do the activity!
There are hundreds of hilarious possiblities, and every game is belly-laughing fun! With the fish under your chin, crab walk around a chair! This game is for 2 or more players and suitable for children aged 3 and up.
With Roo just about to turn 4 she is the perfect age for games like this and as soon as the game arrived she wanted to have a go with it.
It is quick and easy to set up and instructions are simple to understand. You simply have to lay the cards face down in a grid style and then take it in turns to find a blue card, a yellow card or a red card. If you don’t find the write colour sequence you have to put the cards back and the next player has a go, so in essence it also acts as a memory game as you have to try and remember hwere you might have seen one of the colour cards you need. When you find the right colour sequence of cards you have to carry out the crazy instructions it gives you whilst holding on to the foam fish. For example Roo had to crawl upstairs to the bathtub with the foam fish under her chin….much giggling could be heard.
Roo found the turning over of the cards a bit difficult in that she didn’t understand that if she didn’t find a yellow one she had to wait for the next turn, so we adapted it for her slightly in that if I found a yellow one but not a red one I would leave turned picture side up the cards I had found so she could make her sentence easier.
The cards are nicely illustrated in typical Dr Seuss style and are laminated to avoid getting damaged. There are no small parts that would be a choking hazard so you could quite easily set this up for a group of friends and be safe in the knowledge they could play safely.

In total play time for each round was about 30 – 35 minutes and we played it about three of four times before taking a break. We had absolutely loads of fun mixing and matching the activities to do on each one, and even if something was too hard for Roo (crab walking is tough on little arms) she gave it her best shot.
The game is quick to pack away and store and is the perfect size for taking away on our Center Parcs holiday in a few weeks time. Dr Seuss I can Do That card game is priced from £2.99 and available from a number of online retailers this is a really good family fun activity game at a great price.
