Beautiful winter coats from House of Fraser

Winter seems to have been here for ever.  For months we have woken up to wind, rain, cold and a little bit of snow here and there.  To be honest I have been dreaming of warmer weather.  Of wearing my flip flops again, painted toes, strappy dresses and ice cream. Well I was until the House of Fraser outreach team invited me to review one of their beautiful winter coats to keep cosy in over the last few weeks.

I am a bugger for coats.  The poor coat rack in my little under stairs cupboard groans under the weight of coats.  Colleagues at work have jokingly referred to me as ‘Charlotte and her never ending coats’ and despite none of my winter coats being tatty or out of date I find myself buying a new one every winter.

Wanted: Snuggly Winter Coat for the School Run!

Bon Marche Winter coatsOne thing you quickly learn as a parent on the school run is that there is nowhere quite as freezing as the school playground.  Nowhere does the arctic wind whip across your face and the rain drops sting your cheeks quite like that dank, concrete square that you seem to waste countless hours of your life waiting for the urchins to emerge from school.

So because of all of this you realise pretty quick that you need a winter coat that will be your arsenal in battling the elements and ravaging cold on the school run.  The thing is that coat also needs to be stylish, have a million pockets to store keys, phones, sweets, hair bobbles, half eaten food (or is that just my child?).  Many of the coats in the high street veer too much into the ‘high fashion’ stakes and are rubbish in terms of practicality.  I have a gorgeous burnt orange boucle wool coat from River Island.  It looks stunning on but is totally impractical for the school run in reality as it cost nearly £100 and I’d scream if any grubby mitts came near it clutching a painting.  Sorry Roo.

Top Winter Coats for Kids

It’s been a manic week of half term fun in the Mummy Blogger household this last week; we had playmates round for lots of fun and hosted our first Little Puggle craft party with lots of success (even if I was nervous about letting 4 kids under 5 go wild with plaster of paris in my conservatory!). We had pumpkin fun with alternative no carve pumpkin designs and we had a fabulous family fireworks party last night to finish the week off.  One thing I did notice as the week went on is how much colder it’s got – thank heavens I fixed us a good deal on the gas and electric as the fire has been on pretty much non stop today.  As a result of the huge dip in temperature I have this week invested in a winter coat for Roo and thought that others might be interested in some of the coats I looked at but didn’t chose and ultimately why I went for the winter coat we did in the end.
