#sleeptember with Silentnight

Insomnia has plagued my life for over a year now and it can be incredibly debilitating.  A few good hours sleep are like gold dust for me usually and so joining in the #sleeptember with Silentnight campaign was going to be one that would hold challenges for me and I was keen to see if any of the sleep aids that the team from Silentnight and The Bedding Company were sending would help me.

I was kindly sent a copy of Dr Nerina’s book ‘Tired but Wired’, a Deep Sleep duvet and pair of Deep Sleep pillows from the Silentnight range.  Timing was perfect for the new bedding after updating my bedroom with my gorgeous new wooden sleigh bed a few months back and the pillows were gorgeously plump when I released them from their plastic wrappings.  Each pair has been designed specifically to envelop you with a feeling of warmth, snugness and comfort – exactly what your bed should feel like.

Silentnight Febreze Mattress Protector – Dreamy Bedtime Slumber

sweet-dreams

Let’s face it we all love a good night sleep and as parents come the end of the day our beds are pretty inviting places.  Getting the kids to bed though can be stressful and sometimes taxing; miss that window of opportunity and it can be a long night of excuses and running up and down stairs.  So any product that might aid in the bedtime routine is worth a look at and I was intrigued when we were sent a Silentnight Febreze mattress protector that was infused with the soothing lavender scent of Febreze I was looking forward to putting it on Roo’s new bed.

The Land of Nod

The Bedding Company reviewSleep, I love it.  Hubby jokes that I am a super snoozer and it makes him laugh that I snuggle deep in my duvet each night and for 8 hours drift off to the land of nod.  Our bed is already pretty comfortable and we bought a new mattress about 18 months ago but had been debating about whether or not to get a mattress topper as I’d heard from speaking to various people that they not only improve the comfort of your bed but also have hygiene benefits and can help with allergies.  So when the lovely folks at The Bedding Company asked if I’d be up for reviewing a selection of items from their bedding sets I immediately said yes – because more sleep means one less grumpy mummy!

Getting children involved in redecorating their bedroom

I know that growing up as a child every time myself or my brother asked my dad to redecorate our bedrooms he raised his eyebrow wondering what bizarre theme or character we wanted to adorn our bedroom walls.  The worst one he ever had to put up for me was an entire Alice in Wonderland wallpaper set that he still claims today was the most “bloody awful wallpaper to hang and match”.

So, as a parent myself when I decided to redecorate Roo’s bedroom I wasn’t sure if she should have any input on what the theme was going to me.  Even since she was born I’ve redecorated her bedroom so many times that I should probably be hosting my own DIY show by now.  Whether it’s been changing the colour of the walls, putting up a new border, new curtains or bed linen – having done the whole room recently again one thing that I have learnt quite quickly from the bedroom decorating process is the importance of letting Roo be involved in the selection of not only the bedroom theme, but also the design and furniture choices.
