I worshipped this man and when he appeared naked in the shower in The Sun I legged it to the newsagent to get a copy and the picture adorned my wall. I wrote letters in French to the club and one day my dreams came true (or close enough) when I received back a signed cover of his autobiography. This was like I had achieved the ultimate goal as a football mad teenager.
For any football mad child meeting their idol is about as good as life gets, having a football lesson from them well that’s the stuff that dreams are made of…isn’t it?
Well, it may not be a dream if you’re lucky enough to join in with Samsung’s ‘Dream the Blues’ campaign. This campaign gives kids the chance to show off their footballing skills and meet their Chelsea heroes. The initiative is an expansion of the Samsung-Chelsea FC youth camp programme and has benefitted over 5,000 children worldwide since 2007.
The Dream the Blues Campaign which was first launched last year, offers the opportunity to learn how to play football with Chelsea FC youth coaches in the Chelsea Way. It offers footy mad youngster the chance to undertake a series of skills drills and mini games, refining their control, shooting, dribbling, and passing with other kids in their age group.
This year, with Samsung, Chelsea FC through their football camps in China, Vietnam, and Colombia, will give kids from around the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and play with great Chelsea heroes such as Fernando Torres, Eden Hazard, and John Terry in London.
This would be a dream come true for most kids and if you fancy getting involved this is how you can take part:-
