Just before I started packing the suitcases for our recent holiday to Florida I realised that I hadn’t actually got any swimwear for the family, I had a nice bikini that I had bought from Debenhams but I always hate swimming in these as find it really difficult to swim properly in them with my boobs! Luckily, that same week I had an email from the guys over at Simply Swim asking if I would like to choose some swimwear from their range for myself, Roo and Daddy E to take away on holiday and trial.
I chose three outfits from the Speedo swimwear range and there was a lot to choose from. With costumes for general swimming through to competitive swimming wear I was impressed at the online range and varying price brackets. The ladies swimwear had lots of costumes to choose from and I was particularly impressed with the larger sizes available and it didn’t take me long to find a costume that looked comfortable, and I liked the fact I could have a costume that would cover up my chunky thighs!
For Daddy E, I picked a rather smart pair of men’s Speedo swimming trunks. They were a big upgrade on his £4 Sports Direct specials that we got him last year and it was nice to see some colour on the men’s shorts which are usually either black, erm black or black again!
The children’s swimwear for Speedo looked great. I could have picked at least three different suits for Roo but decided that as we were off to Florida where the sun would be strong and no doubt we would have days at the beach that I would opt for one of the covered all in one swimming suits. I picked the this Speedo Hot Tot Suit and particularly liked that it offered sun protection for swimming outdoors. With short sleeves, high neck and front zip this comfortable all in one sun protection suit is a great buy for holidays at £17.50 and I decided it would give a bit of extra warmth for Roo when swimming outdoors in the water.
The goods arrived promptly and I wasn’t disappointed with my choice. I tried my costume on and it fitted really well. Daddy E’s Men’s Speedo shorts in XL were a little snug – but he needs to eat less cake anyway. I kept Roo’s a surprise for the holiday.
When I showed Roo her suit on holiday she loved it. She wanted to put it on straight away and was running around the holiday villa in it calling it her ‘speed suit’. The suit fit her really well and she was able to do the zip herself thanks to it’s chunky zipper.
Wriggling out of it when wet for toilet visits was a little difficult and we had a few close calls. That said the suit allowed her to move around in the water comfortably and she was warm even in our unheated pool. The fact that there as some sun protection in the suit meant I wasn’t stressing about sun cream every hour.
My legsuit costume was great – it fitted me perfectly, big enough across the chest and lots of stretch in the fabric. I was able to comfortably do lengths in the pool and play with Roo without having to fiddle with straps and bikini bottoms every two minutes.
Daddy E’s shorts stood up well to endless jumping in the pool together with Roo hanging off them for games of tag and chase, and unlike cheaper shorts the tie waist didn’t keep undoing every time he got out the pool so our neighbours didn’t have to worry about viewing his builders bottom!
Each of the costumes washed well and dried quickly too. There was no fading to them and even on a machine wash at 30 degrees they haven’t shrunk. For the two weeks we were away Roo wouldn’t wear any other costume to swim in, and to do her 5m distance badge last Sunday at swimming she HAD to wear her ‘speed suit’.
