Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottle Review

When you become a parent a whole new world of eco-friendly, green products open up to you that you may never have seen before.  With Roo now nearly 4 we’ve gone way past the sippy cup stage and a lot of the character cups crack after a few washes and many of the plastic  bottles are not BPA free.

We’d been looking for a lightweight bottle we could take on days out that was grown up and eco-friendly and when we were asked to review the Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottle range from Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks I was excited to put it to the test.

Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks is the online baby of Melody, who has been a nanny for over 10 years and now a mother herself.  She wanted to create an online website stocked full of reputable quality products that she had sourced to help parents provide the safest possible options for their children, ensuring they are not exposed to dangerous chemicals and toxins.  The business started in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength ever since and now boasts a huge range of products from lunch boxes, to teething rings, to Skip Hops packs and much more!

When the Klean Kanteen arrived I loved the sturdiness of the bottle but also that it was the perfect size to fit into Roo’s hands and most importantly her Gruffalo lunch box.  I tested it straight away by filling it with water and popping it in the fridge to cool.  About twenty minutes later it was unleashed on Roo and she immediately pulled the top off and began guzzling.

The pull up sippy lid was easy for her to pull up and close down and I liked the fact that the cap was covered with a cover so no chance of nasty handbag fluff or lunch box crumbs getting on the sipper.  I loved the fact that with the Klean Kanteen you can fill your child’s drink bottle with juice or water before you send them off to school, with out worrying about chemicals, toxins or funky flavours leaching into their drink over the day while they are in the classroom.

BPA free drinking bottlesIt’s perfect for picnics, weighing just six ounces the compact size allows you to take it almost anywhere.  There is a range of different sized Klean Canteen’s and each of them is made with recyclable, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel and doesn’t need a special lining like some other metal bottles and it’s completely BPA-free!

On our picnics to Twycross Zoo the bottle kept Roo’s water cool and was easy to refill with juice once that ran out.  Even better still it fitted in the handy drinks pocket in my Mia Tui bag and also in Roo’s car seat cup holder so no more mummy rooting in a handbag whilst driving.

It’s now become the drinking vessel of choice and a daily wash with warm soapy water and left to air dry is enough to keep it looking new and ready for the next day.  I love the fact that there are no chemicals to worry about, that it’s a product Roo can take to school and out and about, it’s bright so easy to find.  The colour range of the Klean Kanteen means there is bound to be a colour to please every mum and toddler and give each member of the family a unique drinking bottle to match their personality.

The pop up cap isn’t entirely leak proof so you do have to be a bit careful but there are leak proof options available in each of the ranges to cover those inevitable toddler spills.

The big features of the Klean Kanteen bottles are:-

Features:

  • BPA free and Eco Friendly
  • Grows and adapts with your child
  • The perfect size for school lunch boxes
  • Easy to hand wash in hot soapy water
  • Polypropylene #5 sports or loop cap
  • OR stainless steel loop/flat cap
Specification:

  • Capacity 12 fluid ounces (355ml)
  • Weight: 4 ounces (approx 113 grams)
  • Reusable and 100% Recyclable
  • High quality food grade #304 stainless steel
  • Size 5″ H(w/o cap) x 2.75″ W
  • Opening diameter: 1.75″ (44mm)

Priced at £13.99 they may be a bit pricier than your usual character plastic cups but these are far far superior. From a longevity point of view they pay for themselves quickly, any plastic cups we’ve bought have usually split and cracked within a few uses and unlike the Klean Kanteen are not dishwaher proof and designed for the rough and tumble a growing toddler will throw at it.

Check out the Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks website for the full range of Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottles, as well as all the other brilliant eco-friendly products on offer.

This is one product that gets a big thumbs up for design, practicality, longevity and ease of use.
