Getting outside with the kids at the weekend

So let’s face it the weather lately has been totally rubbish and this has made it hard to do anything at weekends that involves being outdoors unless you wanted to emulate the local ducks on the duck pond.

However, I have checked the weather forecast for the weekend and it looks dry! Hurrah – that means we can get out in the fresh air enjoying the countryside and local attractions. So I popped over to the Made For Mums website and checked their What’s On in Staffordshire guide for this weekend and reckon that I’ve found something fun to do with Roo for a few hours whilst Daddy E goes to play cars with his boys!

So here’s my suggestion for getting outside with the kids at the weekend.

Moseley Old Hall – National Trust Events

This weekend Moseley Old Hall in Wolverhampton has two activities that sound like great fun. I love the National Trust as their properties provide great space for children to enjoy and their restaurants provide fab cakes for us mummies to tuck into with a cup of tea. This weekend they are celebrating 50 years of the National Trust and also putting on an event entitled ‘If You Go Down To The Wood‘ where you can descend into the beautiful woodland surrounding the estate and make a green man mask as well as learn about the traditions behind the Green Man. Families are also invited to have a go at giving trees faces of their own.

This sounds like a great creative activity in the outdoors with a bit of learning thrown in as well.  Being National Trust members it will be a pretty reasonable day out as we’ve already paid our fee for this year so as long as I don’t go crazy and order heaps of cake (would I??) or Roo doesn’t demand an entire selection of pencils from gift shop this will be a nice pocket friendly afternoon out for the two of us.
