Wowzers, who knew a bank holiday weekend could lead to exhaustion, stress and hair pulling!
The weather this weekend has been quite simply diabolical. I had wanted all week to have a dry weekend to get out with Roo so she could burn off some energy and Bolsover Castle had a fairytale weekend on which looked great.
Problem was both Saturday and Sunday and Monday have been a total washout. Not content with ruining one day of the bank holiday weekend the British weather went for a hat trick across all three days and totally scuppered our plans.
So this meant a lot of cooped up time in the house, thankfully I’d been saving some review pieces such as the Ravensburger Mini Matching game and also Nano Speed which we are reviewing next week on the blog.
So what have we done instead, well we made cake pops based on the yummy recipe that the handy folk at Netmums posted up earlier today. We watched Beauty & The Beast on Channel 5 (in fact several times bad mummy), we went to see Nanmar and Poppop because that meant 30 minutes off duty for me and Daddy E (cunning parental plan) and in the brief spell that it stopped raining Roo managed to practice some bike riding in the park with Daddy E.
We did our usual swimming lesson on Sunday which as always meant an exhausted Roo by 5pm and she slept right through from 7:3o – 8:15 am this morning – a moment of parenting victory for us.
Ultimately, we’ve spent time together as a family but there’s been some corking tantrums today as a result of cabin fever and Daddy E and I resorted to our coping mechanism of a wine box to relieve the stress of Miss Roo’s demands once she’d gone to bed.
Roll on Tuesday when I have a day of blogging ahead and Daddy E goes back to work – I think he’s going in for a break haha!
Did your bank holiday weekend go as planned or did you get scuppered by the weather too?

On Sunday we had a family trip planned, and to our amazement we had beautiful sunshine all day…the kids played on the beach for ages! My brother and his wife suffered some sunburn.
In Dorset we were fortunate with the bank holiday weather….a rare treat these days!
