When we head into autumn I like to update my make-up box with a few new beauty buys to go with the change in season and the change in colours that I wear. It’s great to see my favourite shade of plums and maroons on the high street this year for fashion and I love the opportunity to wear a deep cherry nail varnish as I think they make nails look ultra glam without being too vampy.
So what’s ended up in my make-up box this month? A trip into Superdrug revealed the new range of Barry M Gliterrati nail varnish. All lined up on the shelf they looked absolutely beautiful and perfect for the forthcoming party season. My favourites are Starlet and Rockstar and I might have ended up buying them all just to see what they were like! Priced at £3.99 they’re a great quick update and won’t break the bank.
My second Barry M purchase was their new silk finish nail varnish I loved the new shade Poppy and wasn’t disappointed with it’s excellent coverage after two coats, and loved the slightly pearlised matt silk finish which really popped when adding the Barry M glossy top coat. These are most definitely festive nails for the autumn and winter season that look classic and elegant. The polish is long lasting as well managing a good 5 days before I started to get slight chipping to the end. Excellent value and coverage.
I’ve also been trying out the new Eye of Horus Scarab Sapphire eyeliner this week. Now if you didn’t read my review of their Goddess Mascara and you want to give your lashes some TLC for winter check it out as it’s one of my favourite mascaras for every day and gives great length, depth of colour and has amazing nourishing properties. So when their PR team emailed me to try out their new Scarab Sapphire Eyeliner I was keen to add it to my collection.
The packaging as I had come to expect from Eye of Horus has a luxury feel with its matt black box and metallic coloured end to signal which colour eyeliner is in the box. The gorgeous gold gilt logo stands out and makes the packaging instantly recognisable.
Eye of Horus’ Goddess Eye Pencils are exceptionally highly pigmented and easy to apply with a smudging applicator on the reverse end. The formulas are waterproof, smudge-proof and long lasting. So whether you are looking to introduce some colour to your look, or just looking to wear your feline flicks with a twist, Eye of Horus Scarab Sapphire has your back. I have never used any other colour eye liner other than black, and for several months have been hooked on my Benefit eye liner but do find that with continuous use my eyes get a little sore after a few days this is a much more ‘natural’ product to work with and doesn’t leave your eyes feeling heavy after use. Easy to apply thanks to the waxes in the pencil it glides on and can be easily worked in if you are looking to create a smudged smoky eye.
Priced at £17.50 they are a high quality, cruelty free and paraben free eye liner that is simply gorgeous to work with. Each pencil is packed with essential oils and natural waxes which means they are super soft and easy to work with and even if you’re an eyeliner novice you can create a beautifully defined eye or even smudge the eyeliner (using the handy smudger) to create a real WOW eyeshadow.
Eye of Horus’ products are now available to buy on their UK website www.eyeofhorus.uk.com and Cocktail Cosmetics.
