With kids there are several certainties in life; they will hate their vegetables, they will ask you ‘why’ lots and they will go through a LOT of shoes. At nine years of age Addy has nearly as many pairs of kids shoes in her wardrobe than I do…one could say like mother like daughter. So when I was contacted to work with online shoe retailer Jake Shoes on a review of their kids collection I jumped at the chance as Addy was in need of some new kicks for the summer and to be honest the thought of hitting the local shoe shops was not that filled me with glee.
Online shoe shopping when you have older kids is definitely the way to go. Once you know their size (width fitting doesn’t so much apply for older kids shoes) it is far less stressful (on both parties) to use one of the many online retailers. Jake Shoes offers you 10% off your first order if you sign up online and they stock all the popular brands such as Converse, Kickers, Geox and more.
Addy took a look through the site and opted for a new pair of Converse. She spends so much time biking, skating, playing football that her shoes take a bit of a kicking and she practically lives in trainers. What I love about the kids Converse range is that you get the same iconic styling as many of the adult designs so if you’re looking to do that ‘mini me’ fashion thing you can do and prices start from around the £27 mark.
The Converse that Addy opted for were white leather, with white stars and the protective rubber toe. Not my first choice being white, but some things are not worth arguing about and thankfully Cif has been my cleaning friend in making sure these stay in tip top shape over the summer months. I ordered a size 2 for her and to be honest there is plenty of room in them.
The shoes have been worn A LOT over the big summer holidays and have pretty much become her favourite pair of trainers for going out in. We’ve had no blisters or rubbing and the shoes have withstood rock climbing in Perranporth, kite running on St Ives beach and holiday club and all the activities they throw at kids.
Jake Shoes have a really big selection of choice of both women, mens and kids shoes and I like the fact that they are a family run business stretching back to 1979. The website is easy to use, secure and they even offer a student discount if you’re still studying and watching the pennies.
There are also physical stores that you can visit if you are in the Manchester area. If you spend over £40 on shoes (which lets face it, is pretty easy these days) delivery is free and you have 14 days to return your purchase should you not be happy with it when it arrives.
At the moment there is a sale on the website with some great deals on, I’ve spotted a couple of offers on shoes for Addy including these great Timberland boots which will be perfect for Autumn.
