The thing about being a stay at home mum is that you have to brave the elements on a daily basis; come rain or shine you have to battle on with the school run whilst for me at least attempting to look respectable and not like I just climbed out of bed and into last night’s clothing on the floor. I like to look smart when I go out, it makes me feel good and this year I’ve loved the range of knitted dresses that have been on the high street.
One of my favourites has been this deep navy chunky Falmer fairisle knitted dress that I got from Matalan in a recent rummage through the rails. I love the length of it, not too short sitting just on my knee so it’s perfect with my long Bertie boots or my short ones from Dune and works really well with leggings or thick woolly tights.
Then there’s the print, right on trend this season with the crazy festive jumper theme it has quirky reindeers on it in a deep burgundy which is a good colour on me with my pale skin and dark hair.
It is generously sized too, I bought a 16 but in reality could have got away with a 14 as it does go a little bit baggy after a few days wear, but soon springs back into shape with a good wash. It irons nicely too and when I had to go away for a long weekend it was something I packed because I knew it would travel well and not crease.
Plus its warm, I mean really really warm. I have gone out in this with a chunky scarf and my beret on the school run and been super toasty. Even with a lightweight rain mac on I’ve been comfortable and felt great at the same time.
I felt very trendy at the school gates when a few mum’s commented on how nice it was and it has become a firm favourite in my wardrobe especially for weekend wear as it’s serviceable when playing games with Miss Roo and doesn’t really restrict me in terms of movement or comfort. Hubby has even commented on how nice it looked and that he approved of how cuddly it made me as it was lovely and soft.
So if you’re looking to update your wardrobe this winter and like me love a chunky knit then this jumper dress is a great buy and I have still seen it in my local Matalan store.
