Let’s face it we all love planning holidays and dreaming of bolting away for a break and with the British weather not being able to quite make its mind up of late, summer may seem like a very long way away, but if you’re planning a little (or a long getaway) then there’s no time like the present to start making plans! When planning a holiday with little ones, there are just so many considerations to make – Will they enjoy the food? Will it be too hot for them? Is there going to be enough to entertain them for a week away? Just so many important questions! Whether you’re the stay-at-home type or fancy getting a little more sunshine in your life, here are just a few of the options I’m exploring for a family getaway in the months to come.
From Devon to the Lake District to bonnie Scotland, in the UK, we’re lucky to be surrounded by some of the most gorgeous and varied locations, perfect for hosting a memorable staycation! Holidaying at home is great for those first time family holidays and can be severely less stressful and less costly than organising both your little ones and a holiday abroad – no passports, no expensive flight add-ons, no worry of your kiddo wandering off in a foreign country.
France is a great choice for a family holiday abroad (especially a first family holiday abroad) as it just has so much to offer. From historical towns to bustling cities, gorgeous coastline and Disney theme parks, there is certainly plenty to keep the whole family entertained – no matter how old or young they are. Starting your days with freshly baked bread and pastries, visiting beautiful old towns, and relaxing on the golden sands are something the whole family can enjoy.
The Tuscany region of Italy is quite simply stunning and certainly has a myriad of exciting things to see, do, eat and experience with your family. Tuscany is certainly a luxurious choice and so if you’re looking for a destination to host a family getaway that’s just that little bit special, then Tuscany will not disappoint. Whether it’s beaches, food, exploring or history you’re in search of, then Tuscany has it all, from Pisa to Florence and the gorgeous Italian coastline, you’ll be spoilt for choice. If you do a little research, companies such as Chic Retreats have a wealth of choice in terms of boutique hotels and luxury stays that are family friendly too!
Where are you dreaming of heading this summer, or have you already made firm plans? If you have any amazing suggestions then let me know – I am heading off for a week in the gorgeous sunshine in May to the stunning St Regis Abu Dhabi for a ‘grown-ups’ only holiday and have to say I cannot wait to relax and recharge with a good book.
