With Roo off to reception in September I wanted to make sure she looked smart for school, that her uniform was easy for her to take on and off and manage during the day and that most of all it didn’t cost the earth. Thankfully, Sainsbury’s have come to my rescue with their budget busting Sainsbury’s Back TU School range and very kindly sent me a grey pinafore dress to try out and also some school shoes.
I think like most mums I know that Roo’s school uniform is going to take a battering through the next term but that doesn’t mean I want her looking scruffy. I never did going to school and I think that encouraging children to wear a uniform and look smart is a good thing even when they start in reception. After all once they hit 14 let’s face it us mum’s aren’t going to get much say in what they wear.
With Sainsbury’s Back TU School range savvy mums can kit out their kids for the new school year whilst making sure they stay on budget with the new price conscious range that doesn’t stint on quality. I love Sainsbury’s TU clothing range for me and Roo and have always been impressed with it. It comes as no surprise then that TU at Sainsbury’s is the go to destination for quality and above all, value on all Back TU School must haves with uniforms coming in for as little as two for £10.
Hardwearing fabrics, stain resistant finishes, non-iron shirts and permanent pleats ensure your child looks ‘first day back’ smart, all term long. TU at Sainsbury’s puts its Back TU School products through the most rigorous testing, which is five times the industry standard! Trousers, pinafores and skirts are abrasion tested and can last up to 100,000 rubs, seam strengths have been pull tested with a weight of up to 29kg and high quality Teflon finish on fabrics have been tested to last up to an entire school year worth of washes, ensuring kids grow out before they wear out.
I love the grey pinafore dress we have been sent for Roo’s uniform with a handy front zipper and Teflon coated for toughness, I am confident that this will maintain its stain resistancy and combat the typical culprits like paint, crayons and general wear and tear well. Even better thanks to the Permanent Pleat system the pleats on her dress will retain a sharp look no matter how many hours of classes and assemblies (and hopefully not the naughty corner) that Roo will sit through.
Our dress costs just £5 and having looked at a variety of retailers this was the one I was most happy with and at £5 I even went out and bought two spare ones as there is currently 25% off TU Clothing including Back Tu School ranges.
With prices starting at £3, TU at Sainsbury’s offers a wide range of clothing and classroom kit for all your children’s needs, in ages 3 to 16 years old. Added value comes in two for ones on key products including sweatshirts, skirts, trousers and polo shirts.
I love the video showing just how tough and ready the new Back TU School range is….I just know Roo is going to be like the little girl who says ‘she loves rolling on the grass’….thank you Sainsbury’s for at least making sure I am now equipped to cope with this.
Oh and if you still need inspiration for lunch box ideas and back to school essentials check out the Sainsbury’s website.

My tip is always get the things out a day before.
Don’t let it take you by surprise! Start getting back into the routine a few days in advance by getting up at the time you would on a school day and going out somewhere – if only for a walk to the corner shop – at going out to school time
Check and double check well ahead and then relax.
the TU clothing range overall is very durable. i have bought lots of samuels uniform there too. at the moment our store has 25% off clothing too so brings down the cost of uniform further. my only negative is that there is low stock at present in my local store, but i am guessing its just the change from summer stock to autumb.
Be prepared!! We shop for uniform early – mid August as all the sizes go towards the end of the summer and you can never find what you need!!

Subscribe to the newsletters of the shops where you usually buy your school kit – that way you’ll know when it’s come in and know what offers are available before you go.
Change their bedtime a week before school starts to an earlier time, as they stay up later in the school holidays
I go to Sainsburys every week & I buy a certain item each week. I started buying the items I just know are going to sell out quickly such as the school jumpers, then the shirts and so on. Last week was great as I bought the school trousers & there is TU 25% off sale on! Awesome!
Start buying things as soon as the kids break up, so it spreads the cost out and you don’t have it all to buy in the last week.

Have a list of EVERYTHING (literally everything – it’s amazing what you’ll forget when on a mission!). Use the internet to source what you need at the very best prices, use a cashback site if applicable and search for discount codes.
