B-Sensible Waterproof Bedding for Kids

b-sensible bedding reviewA few of you may have already taken a read of my the guest post last week on tips to deal with bedwetting and this review post from B-Sensible about their waterproof bedding range for kids follows on really nicely from that.  The lovely B-Sensible folks have sent me a single fitted sheet to review. These sheets are meant to be comfortable, breathable yet still waterproof, and silent in use.

Previously we’ve been using a typical plastic waterproof sheet that whilst it has done the job it rustles something terrible at night, makes Roo hot and sweaty and has ripped easily when taking on and off the bed during sheet changes.  This is where the B-Sensible waterproof bedding range is different.  The products act like a ‘second skin’ thanks to the innovative fibre tencel (which I must admit I am more used to finding in my undies!).  Tencel is a pretty clever fabric that absorbs moisture naturally and is also ec0-friendly as it is made from the wood found on the eucalyptus tree.  Thanks to being made from this clever natural fibres it naturally cools the temperature of your body and reduces humidity and therefore sweating at night.  It is also hypo-allergenic so great for children with allergies, asthma and skin conditions such as eczema.

On opening the box that the sheet comes in I was surprised with how soft and silky it feels.  Definitely not like a waterproof sheet at all.  It feels soft against my skin and despite the waterproof backing did not rustle when scrunched.  The fitted sheet has deep sides and plenty of stretch for going over the sides of the mattress and because the waterproof backing is only on the sheet area there is no chance of tearing or ripping like with traditional plastic sheets.

Ironically on the night that I put it on Roo wet the bed; the perils of giving that last drink of the day too late and a heavy sleeper meant she woke at 6am sitting on a wet sheet.  Stumbling into the dark I although her pyjamas and the sheet itself were pretty wet the mattress underneath was completely dry.  A quick dash to the washing bin and a change of the sheets and Roo was back fast asleep.  I washed the sheet the next day and although it took a little longer than the plastic sheet to dry it washed brilliantly and was back on the bed that night.  Roo loves how it feels like a proper sheet and she no longer has horrible plastic beneath her cotton sheet and she’s a lot cooler at night as her room is pretty warm – always about 20 degrees.

It is with delight that the horrible plastic sheet has been sentenced to a life (well 3 days till the ben men come) in the black rubbish bin – you are needed no more and have been replaced by a superior model.

The advantages of B-Sensible bedding are its good for eczema sufferers, bed wetters, anyone who normally sweats a lot in bed, and that its waterproof and breathable. Its made from Tencel, which is a “new age” fabric and if you’re big into eco-friendly products it has all the credentials.

If you did want to buy one of these sheets after reading my blog you can buy them at Luxury bedding products. You can also enter to win one by entering the competition below.
