I love getting glammed up. Any excuse to pile the hair high, create dramatic eyes and wear bright bold lips and beautiful dresses I absolutely love and the Christmas party season is the perfect opportunity to go all out and go for an outfit with real sparkle. After all you might be looking to find someone special under the misteltoe this year and you want to make sure that you stand out from across the room.
This year I was lucky enough to be approached by fashion brand Marisota to work with them on creating my perfect Christmas party outfit style board and what girl wouldn’t want to go wild and indulge her love of shopping by choosing from an amazing array of gorgeous party fashions?
For me this year I am in love with sparkle and sequins and pastel colours. Not usually one to wear pastels this year I have totally embraced the gorgeous hues of pale pinks, ice blues and winter berry purples that have adorned the high street. I’ve even gone festive with my hair and had it dyed festive snow white with shades of ice purple which Addy has nicknamed my ‘Periwinkle Tinkerbell Fairy hair’.
The partywear range on the Marisota site has a lot of choice and if you fall into the ‘plus size’ category of clothing – great news as there are loads of styles available meaning you don’t miss out on feeling gorgeous and sexy this Christmas. Dress wise I was looking for something to accentuate my waist that was feminine, girly but didn’t show my cleavage as being big boobed I don’t always want to highlight this fact. A few clicks and I fell head over heels for this sequin prom dress; with pleat details (so great for hiding that bit of a tummy I cannot shift) this dress is fit for a princess and sure to turn heads this party season. The bodice features capped sleeves (good if you aren’t confident about your arms), a scooped neckline and back, and is heavily embellished with colour co-ordinated sequins. The fully-lined dress has a net underskirt and is a real fairytale outfit.
I love the colour and the length and with the scoop neckline could easily add simple statement pearls that wouldn’t overpower the dress and detract from the sequin top. Being big busted and having a waist means I have to choose whether to accentuate one or the other and this dress is a great waist dress and draws attention away from my big bust and draws the eye to my curves.
The fabric of the dress is a lovely weight and it hangs really well on; I plan on wearing it this weekend so will hopefully get some photographs of me in it. What I love is the band around the waist it hugs my curves and gently flattens my little tummy ensuring the pleats don’t gape and pull which really bugs me on dresses. Priced at £60 this is an excellent value party dress that will last more than one season. Because the top half of the dress is so embellished it is important to keep accessories simple so as not to detract from the simple elegance.
I recently ordered a gorgeous pair of black and gold high heels from Little Mistress from their Paper Doll shoes selection. They are a black peep toe heel with a stunning glitter effect gold back that almost gives a wing angel effect at the back and compliments the dress much better than a nude or metallic shoe in my opinion. The shoes are £59.99 and if you search hard enough you’ll find a cheeky discount code to get some money off too.
Making sure that I stay comfortable the lovely folk at Marisota also sent me a gorgeous new bra from Gossard. Being on the big busted size (34GG) it has become easier to get pretty lingerie on the high street but it does come at a price. With most of my bras setting me back in excess of £40 – £50 so I was intrigued how this Gossard Superboost lace bra in shocking pink, priced at under £30 stacked up. The straps weren’t as wide as I usually like but I loved the seductive lace cups and they offered brilliant coverage across the sides of my boobs so you don’t get a horrible roll over effect. Giving a gorgeous pert shape under clothing this is definitely a brand I would consider for everyday lingerie as it has been comfortable to wear to work and out shopping.
Topping off the outfit comes this jewel box clutch bag which screams opulence and glamour and looks like a dazzling gemstone. With just enough room for keys, a lippy and your phone this is perfect for taking on a night out and even though its priced at £38 this is a bag you could use again and again because it won’t date as it isn’t coloured and will go with so many outfits.
So this Christmas when I step out for the party season I will be dressed from head to toe in beautiful, stylish partywear and feeling super confident – thanks Marisota!
