There’s no denying that remaining on top of the latest fashion must have’s when you become is not top of the priority list. Most of us spend those early weeks and months worrying about breastfeeding clothes, anything that hides our post baby lumps and bumps or how many days can we get away with wearing an outfit before it starts to show stains.
That’s pretty much how I stayed for me for several months after having Miss Roo and even now 5 years later it is far easier to go shopping for her than it is for me and I detest clothes shopping so much I do 90% of my shopping online in the comfort of my own home. That way at least I don’t have to deal with hideously grim changing rooms and the embarrassment of the store having no size 16’s on the rails. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to look good though and try to follow what’s hot on the high street.
Thankfully BonPrix gave my wardrobe a much needed fashion uplift last month when they sent me two fantastic dresses from their women’s clothing range. The first item they sent was a brilliant neon block striped jersey dress which is perfect for wearing at home and looking great on the school run. The bright colours are bang on trend for this season’s neon revival and stripes are slimming. The fabric is stretchy without going see through over key lumps and bumps and I felt comfy in it all day. So many people commented on the dress when I was out and about and I loved the fact that it can be worn with skinny jeans, leggings or tights as well as flats or heels depending on where I am going.
The second dress I am saving for our wedding anniversary in just over a week’s time as it’s pretty for a night out yet comfy too. Again another colour block shift dress (I’m learning that patterns work wonders for making me look slimmer and creating optical illusions) I love the sequin stripes on this which give the dress a bit of an edge for nights out. I’ve tried this dress on already in the 14/16 and it is a little clingier than the same size in the block stripe jersey dress so requires the use of some unflattering Spanx type undies – but needs must eh mum’s!
Both dresses come in under £30 and on the trial quick wash I did at 30 degrees both came up well with no loss of colour or shrinkage. I love that BonPrix doesn’t stop at the usual size 14 for many of it’s clothing, often carrying up to size 32 in most of it’s stock so it’s a great website for many mum’s who may be struggling with their post baby bodies but don’t want to hide away in tracksuit bottoms and leggings forever.
