Keeping Fit as a Family – Tips and Advice

As parents we all want to make sure our children are fit and healthy, but with the day-to-day hustle and bustle of being parents, it’s easy to overlook our own personal fitness. While you might argue it’s difficult to find the time to exercise, the solution is actually quite simple. What you need to do is to get active with the family and in engage in activities you can all enjoy together.

Addy and I are both members at Lichfield Golf & Country Club and once or twice a week I will take her with me so that she can either enjoy the free sports coaching sessions or do some swimming with me. They seem to do less and less PE at schools now and we do make a conscious effort to get the bikes out and cycle to school and also I actively encourage her to do her football and multisports after schools clubs.

Educational Outdoor Activities for Your Little Ones

We live in a world where kids LOVE technology, whilst this is a good thing it is important we don’t forget the joys of the great outdoors.

Being a single parenting is rewarding but also exhausting.  Come the end of a busy week and from working full time, running a house, remembering a million things for school, fitting in all the chores and jobs I would be quite content to put my feed up come Friday and spend the weekend snuggled under my duvet with Addy watching movies together.

Rarely though does that happen and weekends fly by in a blur or activities, days out, weekend clubs and domesticity.  I am not embarrassed or ashamed to admit that I love my ‘me time’, when I can run a deep bath, enjoy a long glass of wine and watch a programme other than Adventure Time or Teen Titans.

Brantano have kids shoes nailed

I love shoes and shoe shopping, however my enthusiasm is not shared by Addy who isn’t hugely keen on going shoe shopping (I guess my wallet should make the most of this).  That is unless we go shopping to our local Brantano shoe store in Tamworth.

We first worked with Brantano last year on a shoe fitting review and were really impressed with the layout of the store, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that there was a huge choice of kids shoes including big name brands such as Clarks, Adidas and Sketchers.

Holiday clothing loves from Primark

I am just a tad excited….it is officially the one week countdown for my hollibobs and I am looking forward to a week in the sun at the gorgeous St Regis hotel Abu Dhabi.  Holidays are one of the reasons I go to work – booking my annual breaks is something I look forward to and the UAE has been on my wish list of destinations for a number of years and the thought of a week’s adult holiday and the chance to read a book from cover to cover uninterrupted brings a BIG smile to my face.
