Vodka in a tin….saving grace for knackered mums!

Yesterday was a totally awful day; it just went from bad to worse and in terms of ****ed up it has to rank up there as total royal ones. Addi and I made the decision early on that because of the bad weather forecast we were going to do something indoors and head for the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.

We love aquariums they always captivate kids with their array of weird and wonderful creatures and there is a lot to do at the National Marine Aquarium and I liked the fact I could book the tickets online, skip the queues and save 10% on the entrance price.  To coin a phrase from my favourite supermarket ‘every little helps’.

We’ve created a monster!

This morning I received a fun email from Mattress Online all about getting the kids to be creative and come up with their version of a monster and create it in order to win some cool prizes of their choice.

The competition is all about getting kids to use their imagination; whether their monster is funny, friendly or scary Mattress Online want you to bring it to life whether it is through a drawing, a model or a painting.

The monsters can be drawn or created using any materials, and can be any size, shape or colour. Don’t forget to name your monster, explain who they are and what they do.

A miniature day out with masses of fun

This week Addi and I are down in the Devonshire countryside; we’ve headed off for a week and boy do we need it.  We left it late for our holiday this year and decided on a staycation in one of my favourite parts of the country.  Our base for the week is the amazing Great Gutton Farm and our 400 year old farmhouse is roomy, well equipped, right in the heart of the countryside, has acres of space to roam free and an amazing indoor swimming pool.

As holiday breaks in the  UK go this is a good place to be; within an hour you’re on some of Britain’s best beaches and there is a lot to do in the local towns and villages and yesterday we headed to the Miniature Pony Centre in Dartmoor.  Addi is getting into horses now (much to my delight as I was a keen rider), and we’ve just started horse riding lessons so she was excited to see what a miniature pony was and from the website there looked a lot to do and so on a sunny day it was the perfect day out.

Give a girl the right shoes…

I am a firm believer in that give a girl the right pair of heels and she can accomplish anything.  There is something uplifting about wearing a pair of shoes you love, we all have our favourite pair in the wardrobe, and the moment you slip them on they make you smile, they give you that ‘feel good feeling’.

red soled high heels

I had been searching for a new pair of black heels for going out.  I already have a pair of stunning Dune zip up heels but they were expensive and I don’t like to wear them every time I go out as they are something special.  So last week as I was going out for dinner with J to meet some friends I popped into town to see if I could find something on the high street.  To say the offerings were drab would be an understatement, lots of drab styles that I wouldn’t spent £10 on let alone the £40 or £50 being asked, it seems that this autumn there will be a lot of cloned feet tramping the cobbles as there was absolutely nothing of any stand out note to pick.
