I have a simply gorgeous competition for my readers this week, something rather special and I will be envious of the lucky person who wins the prize. Recently I met the wonderful Abigaill of Abilu Creations on Twitter whilst doing my usual watch of eclectic and original companies to work with on collaborations. Abigail after years studying fine art and costume design at university has now created her very own collection of jewellery and accessories which she sells at her online shop Abilu Creations London.
I love heels! The higher the better and even though I have dodgy knees and did my toes a serious mischief at the Harry Moseley ball last September in a pair of 7″ skyscraper heels I cannot be deterred. One of my school run mum friends always jokes with me that I have fabulous shoes and she loves to see what graces my feet each morning…I’ve told her to get out more but am flattered.
What I love most of all though are wedges and in particular big chunky wedges that look amazing with shorts, a summer dress or a maxi dress. I had a gorgeous tan pair last year from Next and was gutted when the straps broke just days before my holiday. Thankfully this year there’s been no such shoe drama and the lovely team at Jones the Bootmaker sent me the most beautiful pair of summer wedges to prance about in.
I’ve had a pretty frugal month with moving house as I have to watch the pennies a little with two sets of rent to pay this month but luckily thanks to some brilliant high street bargains I’ve managed to pick up a few little luxuries for not a lot of spondoolies.
The first comes courtesy of F&F Clothing at Tesco. Now before living in Lichfield I didn’t have access to the F&F collection but now that I do I always look in there for key statement pieces and on trend fashion at a great price when I do the weekly shop. Bad habit most definitely but a girl can never have too many clothes, right?
Us bloggers are busy folk, often juggling family life and work and all the duties those roles bring. We often blog into the wee small hours on our laptops, tweet in the bath from our phones and draft articles and notes on the iPad when the kids haven’t stolen it! So really any gadget that makes blogging easier has to be worth a look out and this month I’ve been testing two gadgets out.
The first was the fantastic fully aluminium super sleek Brydge+ keyboard with built in speakers. A big hit in the gadget and tech world in the US this snazzy bluetooth and wireless keyboard docks with your iPad turning it into a mini MacBook in a few clicks. Simple to set up and pair with your iPad in the usual way you’d pair any bluetooth device the addition of the speakers so you can listen to our music whilst blogging is a big plus. Lightweight and ergonomically designed with lovely soft keys this is a joy to work on and makes blogging on your iPad a doddle. Keys are responsive and all the usual Mac command based functions work. Its so good I even found myself looking for a mouse track pad on the keyboard instead of swiping the iPad screen in the usual way.
Last weekend I moved house. Again. For the second time in 7 months. My family pulled together, because that’s what we do when there’s a crisis or something that needs fixing and we worked tirelessly all weekend to the point of exhaustion. Come Sunday when Roo came home from her dad’s her new room was set up, wardrobes built (thank to the brilliant Argos clearance section on eBay we picked up a gorgeous solid white wood wardrobe for £140 instead of £400!), beds made and new curtains up.
