How Disciplined Are You?

uk mummy bloggerI had a funny conversation with a few of the school gate mum’s last week; our girls always run from school to the car park together and despite our best efforts of ‘don’t run’, ‘wait there’, don’t go too far’ they always go hell for leather up the path. It seems we all speak Chinese to our kids and they cock a complete deaf one when told not to do something, especially in front of their friends.

We all laughed about this and agreed that over the last few days we’d all been using the ‘if you don’t stop doing that you’re not going to the party’ trick.  However, in two of the 3 cases it had totally backfired as Roo and one other child had simply turned round and said ‘it’s ok I’m not that bothered anyway’; this had us in fits of laughter as we all agreed that even though we’d said that we wouldn’t take in them in reality taking away a party with their friends was never likely to happen in all reality.

Take Note: Bloggers Have Social Klout

socialmediaDespite what some say about my job working in social media I do not spend all day on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest doing ‘nothing’ – I do actually research trends and look at why this is becoming such a popular area for many to work in.  It cannot be denied that many bloggers have social klout online and are clearly brilliant at what they blog and tweet about.  Many mum’s have gone on to make careers out of their writings and are successful women with an excellent network of contacts who should be listened to.  I have a ‘Hire Me’ page that invites companies to work with me on a longer term scale to help them build or manage an online reputation and one of my most popular blogs every time is a review I did of the Nano Speed Crash Set that gets over 2000 impressions a month.

Should Children Cycle to School?

guest blog postAt Roo’s school this week they had ‘Bikeability’ and kids from reception upwards were invited to bring their bikes to school for some training in the playground and riding hints and tips.  So I was interested to publish this guest post on should children cycle to school as I’d like Roo to be able to ride her bike safely and confidently as she gets older as we are less than a mile from the school.

With around 8.3 million children travelling to school each day, it would be easy to think that a large proportion of these kids must be travelling by bike. With children’s innate love of cycling and the obvious benefits to the parents of not having to taxi them to school, making the journey by bike is the obvious choice for the majority of school-age children.
