Without meaning to sound like the intro to the brilliant Dr Ranj’s show on CBeebies I want to take a quick 30 seconds to wish all my friends and followers a happy and healthy 2013. 2012 will disappear with a puff of smoke tonight and I know only too many people who will be quite glad to kick it into touch as for some it’s not been the greatest year. I want to encourage you though to go into tonight and tomorrow, the first day of 2013 with an open mind. I am a big believer in setting goals – it’s how I plan my life to an extent and it gives me focus.
I used to buy Joe Browns clothing before I was pregnant with Miss Roo – I liked the price, I loved that it was on trend with what was going on in the high street and the quality of the clothing was always good. So when I was recently offered the chance to try a few pieces of clothing from their autumn and winter range I of course snapped the arm off their PR (well not literally as that would just be wrong and rude!).
I don’t know about my other mummy blogger friends but treating yourself to new clothes as a mum tends to come second to buying new clothes for the kids and quite often Miss Roo is better dressed than me – a sure fire sign you’re a mum I think. So I grabbed a cup of tea and managed to spend the next thirty minutes or so browsing their brilliant range of women’s clothing on the Joe Brown’s website.
The thing about being a stay at home mum is that you have to brave the elements on a daily basis; come rain or shine you have to battle on with the school run whilst for me at least attempting to look respectable and not like I just climbed out of bed and into last night’s clothing on the floor. I like to look smart when I go out, it makes me feel good and this year I’ve loved the range of knitted dresses that have been on the high street.
One of my favourites has been this deep navy chunky Falmer fairisle knitted dress that I got from Matalan in a recent rummage through the rails. I love the length of it, not too short sitting just on my knee so it’s perfect with my long Bertie boots or my short ones from Dune and works really well with leggings or thick woolly tights.
Today is my last day with my official mummy blogger hat on – as of tonight I will pretty much down tools for doing festive things with Miss Roo, Daddy E and my family.
It’s been an epic year on the blog – year number 5 next year for me – where does the time go to? I’ve had heaps of fun attending events like Cybher and the Tots100 Blogcamp in Manchester. There have been highs and lows and throughout it I’ve continued to make some amazing contacts and close friends.
It’s the look no woman wants to showcase at the office Christmas party – back cleavage.
Research from Sainsbury’s has identified that ‘back fat’ is one of the most common problem areas for women and in response to customer demand, the supermarket has developed the holy grail of party lingerie – a back smoothing bra.
