Pesky Pirates Board Game Review

I am not sure how it started but Roo is just ever so slightly obsessed with pirates.  It’s a strange thing for a girl to be into, but it stems from the fact that my brother (Roo’s Uncle) lives in London, near the The Thames, has a beard, and lots of tattoos so kind of looks like a pirate (no offence Uncle Edd).

From  the first time they met he was known as Pirate Edd and his wife is affectionately know as Shipmate Jade and they have Sea Pugs called Gianni and Elliot.  Can you tell my family is a little bit off the wall yet.

The power of saying I love you to your kids

Just how powerful is it to say I love you to your kids?

Those three little words I love you mean so much.  As adults it is the phrase we long to hear from another to tell us they care about us, from our parents it is three words that give us a feelinng of security and acceptance, from our children they are three words that tell us we are doing everything right.

I will never forget the first time Roo said I love you mummy.  We’ve always told her we love her, as parents you just do.  One night I tucked her into bed, read her a bed time story (from memory it was Peter Pan), gave her a cuddle, told her I loved her and a voice replied back “I love you too mummy.”

Gossip Girls

I’ve just been out to the post office with Roo to post a couple of competition prizes and bundles of bits to a fellow blogging pal and sadly have just been judged by other mum’s in the village.  I have fallen victim to the gossip girls it would seem.

Today I am not feeling great, it’s been a horrible ten days, for reasons of which I won’t go into because now isn’t the time or the place.  Needless to say my hair looks a mess, I hadn’t applied a trowel full of make up and I shamefully am wearing the same jeans I’ve worn for the last five days and one of Daddy E’s oversized jumpers because it’s cold.  Oh yes I am also wearing my UGG boots.

Personalised Gifts For Mums

I have a birthday coming up, trust me Daddy E has been fully briefed on the date and it is in his calendar.  So it got me thinking as mum’s what sort of present do we love off our kids.  For me some of the best presents I get from Roo as one’s that she has personalised in some way.  I have a lovely plaque in my kitchen that she made me with her handprints on and these are gifts that have memories as well as sentimental value in.  So I hope that you don’t mind that today’s post comes from the team at Vista Print and talks about personalised gifts for mums.

Mini Rainbow Fairy Cakes

Today as part of operation girly day, Roo and I made mini rainbow fairy cakes.  They were quick, simple, great fun and look amazing.  For anyone who loves baking with their kids and wants to put a surprise in their lunchboxes for back to school these are it.

So just how do you go about making mini rainbow fairy cakes?  Fear not mum’s here is the recipe to transform you into the status of a domestic goddess and have your children eating out of the palm of your hands.  Seriously, if Mary Poppins had come up with these then Jane and Michael would never have needed to go off and feed the birds or step in time on rooftops.
