The Importance of Family Time

When Friday night rolls round I do a little cheer that for the next 48 hours or so there will be an extra pair of hands available to lend a hand around the house and do activities as a family.  When Daddy E comes home he’s usually greeted with a big hug and Roo always asks if he’s had a good day.  For me the importance of family time cannot be underestimated.  Roo loves having both of us around.  She loves creating “adventures” for us to go on around the house or when we go out and we try to include her in planning our excursions and activities.  This weekend for example I had been lucky enough to have been passed tickets to Mr Bloom’s Get Up and Grow Tour at Sandwell Valley (thank you Frankee B).

Mum We Need Some Money

Those were the words I had to utter down the phone last summer when Daddy E, Roo and myself jetted off to the USA to see Mickey and pals and indulge our inner children with a trip to Disney World Florida.  For us it was a once in a lifetime holiday, something we had dreamed of doing with Roo for two years and saved hard to afford.

We spent ages looking on the internet for the best deal and the most direct flights and knowing how much we love our own space we opted for a family villa with private pool on a reserve just outside of Kissimee.  The holiday was one to remember for many reasons and before we went we looked around for the best deals on travel currency and managed to get a great rate via our bank as we were preferential account holders (always worth checking before you go if you are entitled to any foreign currency deals).

Belvita Breakfast Biscuits

I am terrible at having breakfast in the morning. I either go from one extreme to the other of eating too much too early and then by 11am am ravenous again or forget completely and end up picking and snacking by mid morning.  So when I got the opportunity to try out a selection of the Belvita Breakfast biscuits I literally bit the arm of the PR lady as I had seen these in the shops and had been meaning to try them.

Generally I put myself in the camp where I am not a breakfast person, I find the idea of eating anything at 7am stomach churning, and usually settle for a couple of gulps of tea in between getting Daddy E off to work and Roo’s cup of tea in the morning.  I remember the advert for the Belvita Breakfast biscuits in which Lisa Snowdon opts for a Belvita over a bacon sandwich. I’m not sure I’d make the same choice if a bacon sandwich was on offer — but maybe that’s just me!

Win a Yoomi Feeding System

The other day I got contacted by the lovely team at Yoomi about their easi-latch bottle, warmer and pod.  Now I know Roo is out of bottles but I was really intrigued to see what the system was about because I remember wanting Yoomi bottles when Roo was born but financially I just couldn’t afford them.  So they very kindly sent me one of their new Yoomi feeding system kits to have a lookt at.

The Yoomi Feeding system is a premium anti-colic, easi-latch bottle that comes with a travel warmer and bedside warmer in a compact design which is perfect for making feeding on the go.  Thanks to the clever warming system in just 60 seconds your baby’s feed can be warmed to natural breast milk temperature and this certainly makes feeding at night and out and about hassle and worry free.  I remember several instances when out and about I struggled to get a cup of warm water to warm Roo’s bottles because of ‘health and safety’ legislation in restaurants and as a new mum this is the last thing you need.
