My Mummy Blogger MP3 Shuffle

The gorgeous ChelseaMamma & MummyGlitzer have again tagged me in a post – anyone would think we spend all day blogging and tweeting :p This time to reveal the first five songs that come up when my iPod is on shuffle.

First up takes me back to my heady days dancing on podiums in clothes that left little to the imagination; this was one of my favourites whilst on holiday with my girls in Zante

Rui da Silva – Touch Me (feat. Cassandra)

White Diamonds – Friendly Fires

I first heard the Friendly Fires singing Skeleton Boy on Glastonbury Live last year….I don’t do concerts in fields so always watch at home. I immediately downloaded their entire album and it’s regularly a most played on the iPod. Still want to see them live.

Wii Games for Under Fives

Roo is pretty good at picking things up quickly, she’s got iPhone swiping down to a fine art and we used to have an iPad before it got possessively taken over by her once she hit two.  She regularly spends 20 or 30 minutes reading on the iPad or playing the latest puzzle apps for pre-schoolers and as long as I limit her time on it to no more than 20 minutes once a day I don’t have an issue with it.

She’s recently shown an interest in joining in our Wii games too and has had a little go at Just Dance, boxing and bowling on the Wii with limited success.  Boxing she enjoyed and it really tired her out but I am not sure it’s the best game for her as she got a bit jumpy when the man started hitting her onscreen WiiMee back.

15 Kids and Counting – Week 2

I loved the Channel 4 show of this three part series that started last week and was eagerly looking forward to watching this week’s episode from last night. This week we saw the Lewis family from Bournemouth with their 12 daughters .  Carly 28, Tracy, Samantha, Lyndsay, Danielle, Chantelle, Charlotte, Georgia, Candice, Shannon, Shaznay and Porsha, 8.  They have one son, Charles who we see very little of and seems to me to have the best idea out of everyone in the house and that is to stay out of the way of chaos of hair straighteners, prom dresses and make up.

My 2011 Highs and Lows

I’ve been tagged by the wonderful @mummyglitzer who is one of the many bloggers who I love tweeting with & sharing crazy stories of parenting and our little ones.  I love being a mummy blogger as not only do I meet some amazing people it’s a fantastic way for me to offload with the problems of being a parent and working mum.  Here’s my 2011 highs and lows and a tribute to other mummy bloggers out there.

1. What was your happiest event?

Finally working out what I wanted to do with my life now that I had become a mum.  Since the birth of my daughter I had been running my own business and it had gradually begun to take up more and more of my time taking me away from Roo and also invading my house.  The sudden realisation that I loved working with children and that I could re-train as a teaching assistant has been a blow of fresh air to me and kept me smiling through the back end of 2011.

Putting a cap on benefits

This post may well annoy and upset some of my followers but I’ve never been one to stray away from controversy and so this morning I decided to write that I am totally in favour of the government putting a cap on benefits for families at £26,000 a year which is the equivalent of earning £35,000 before tax.

Now before you ask – yes my family gets benefits we get £80 a month in child allowance for our 3 year old daughter and approximately £200 a week in tax credits; my husband works full time and earns just over the £30k bracket and I work part time earning at the moment about £16k although this is about to drop significantly as I have reduced my hours down.
