Slimavite Weight Loss Shakes – Week 1

I was very excited to be chosen as a Slimavite blogger to test out their Slimavite weight loss shakes and slimming regime recently, excited and nervous.

Nervous because I’ve tried meal replacement diets before and really struggled. The shakes have been awful, chalky, lumpy, bland and quite frankly wouldn’t fill up a fly let alone a working busy person.

The Slimavite plan promises to be different. Their website describes the diet plan attractively.

“Fed up with complicated diets and constantly counting calories? At Slimavite we’ve done the hard work for you. Suddenly, keeping track of your diet is easy as pie. Our delicious shakes leave you free to enjoy your favourite meals and treats. And all with the flexibility to fit around your busy life.”

I just cannot lose the baby weight…

When I fell pregnant with Addison in 2007 I didn’t realise adjust my eating habits. I didn’t suffer from cravings of any kind and I was terribly sick until week 30 with horrendous morning sickness. However, some how I managed to put on nearly 3 stone in weight during my pregnancy.

I’ve always had body issues and been conscious of the fact I am slighter larger than most of my friends and I struggle to maintain and sort of diet or lose weight through exercise. I’ve tried all sorts of diets including Weight Watchers, Atkins etc and have even been on medication via my GP to breakdown the fat I eat within my pretty healthy diet. I don’t eat excessive amounts of processed foods, in fact I cook every night a meal from scratch with fresh vegetables and fish or meat. I don’t gorge on chocolate but I do enjoy 3 – 4 glasses of wine a week.

Baby talk – communicating with your baby

Communicating with your baby from birth encourages their vocabulary and language development. I remember reading that fact from the National Literacy Trust’s website just after Addison was born and making the decision that there would be none of the “baby talk” I had heard from other mums whilst out and about.

My husband and I would talk to her about our day, what we were doing with her. If we were doing every day things like giving her a wash, changing her, moving things in her room we would tell her why we were doing this. We believed that in doing so not only would she learn our voice and begin to distinguish key figures in her life she would also store the beginnings of what will become an enormous vocabulary of words.

Working mums – do you feel guilty?

As a mum I should know that each decision we make for our kids comes with a guilt factor, there will always be someone who has an opinion on what you choose to do as the primary carer for your child and sometimes what you choose to do can make you feel incredibly guilty and question whether you’ve done the right thing.

Recently, I’ve been questioning myself and the fact that I pretty much work full time and as a result Addison attends pre-school / child care (with grandparents) 5 days a week.

Oink! We’re going to Peppa Pig World

Everyone is very excited in our house this week.  Why, because on Friday afternoon we are heading off for a little mini-break down to Southampton to visit Peppa Pig World on the Saturday.

I’ve been wanting to take Addison here since it opened this year, and all the mummy bloggers had been raving on twitter about how good it was, how child friendly etc etc and this was confounded when I read an article in the I paper saying that Peppa Pig World was the top attraction for small kids for 2011 (in fact looking at the Official Peppa Pig World website they’ve received a host of accolades for the park).
